The table below lists the historical components of the Nikkei 225 index. If a company was part of the index during the last day of a certain year, it has been marked with “X”. Nikkei 225, also known as the Nikkei Stock Average, is considered as the benchmark index for the Japanese stock market.

Latest changes to Nikkei 225 components

Between January and August 2019, there has been three changes to the index. In August 1st, Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. (7832) replaced Chiyoda Corporation (6366). In March, Idemitsu Kosan Ltd (5019) and Omron Corp (6645) were added to the index and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (5002) and Pioneer Corporation (6773) were removed.

During 2018, there were only two changes with the consituents. In December, DIC Corp (4631) replaced Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd. (5413). In October, CyberAgent Inc (4751) was added and Furukawa Co., Ltd. (5715) was deleted.
