The data has been calculated using the current & past Russell 3000 companies. Russell 3000 index represents around 98% of the U.S. equity market. Net income is used as the earnings figure. The year-over-year growth is calculated by dividing the revenue/earnings of a quarter with the figures of the same quarter from the previous year. The Media & Entertainment Industry Group is part of the GICS Communication Services Sector This sector includes also the Telecommunication Services industry.
The Communication Services sector was created by MSCI and Standard & Poor’s in September 2018 when it replaces the previous Telecommunucations sector that was demoted as an Industry. Before the new sector classification, Facebook Inc and Alphabet Inc used to belong to the Information Technology sector.
