How the figures are built

The full definitions are in the data methodology (PDF).
Point in time

A past valuation date uses only the financial statements public on that date. Later restatements never change it.

Delisted companies included

Companies count for every date they were listed, so past figures carry no survivorship bias.

Data sources

Official filing databases where they exist, such as SEC EDGAR and EDINET, and otherwise the companies' own published reports.

One definition everywhere

EBITDA, earnings and enterprise value are defined the same way in every market, with leases on the IFRS 16 basis.

Normalised earnings

One-off items such as impairments, restructuring costs and disposal gains are removed before any P/E is calculated.

Every judgement recorded

A classification, a duplicate listing or a one-off adjustment sits in a reviewed rule table and is flagged on the company's row.

Questions

Is this part of my Global Equity Valuations Database subscription?

No. They are two products with separate subscriptions. The Database values stock market indices; Siblis Global Valuation Multiples values industries and the companies in them.

Which valuation dates can I get?

Every calendar quarter end since Q1 2009 with Pro, and month ends as well with Enterprise.

How do I buy a single report?

Contact us with the valuation date and what you need. We reply with a payment link and send the report by email.

Can I use the figures in a client report?

Yes: cite the figures, put them in tables and attach the peer list. A single report is licensed for one engagement and a subscription for all your client work. Republishing the data itself, or building it into a product, needs a Custom licence.

What happens to my reports when a subscription ends?

Reports used in an engagement may be kept and referred to for as long as you must retain the file. New use stops.

Does it cover private companies?

No. It covers listed companies with a market value above USD 100m, plus a separate universe of US companies of USD 25–100m.

How many people can use a plan?

The named users on the licence: one for Single report and Pro, up to ten in one firm for Enterprise. Larger teams and networks are quoted as Custom.
